Want to learn more about our church? Here are some general frequently asked questions to get you started.
Peace Church is part of the United Church of Christ, a progressive Christian denomination known for its commitment to justice, inclusion, and compassion. We believe that God’s love embraces everyone, and we seek to follow the teachings of Jesus through worship, service, and community.
It means everyone is truly welcome here – no exceptions. Whether you are young or old, certain or questioning, LGBTQ+ or straight, single, partnered, or somewhere in between, you are a beloved child of God. We strive to create a space where people can bring their whole selves and know they belong.
We are not a Baptist Church, but we worship at First Baptist Church of Pendleton, a Cooperative Baptist Church, located in the heart of downtown Pendleton SC. Our congregation gathers each Sunday afternoon at 4:00 PM in the beautiful sanctuary. Visitors are invited to enter through the main sanctuary doors. Look for our Peace Church signs and friendly faces ready to welcome you.
Our services blend tradition and creativity. You might hear familiar hymns, new songs, thoughtful preaching, and prayers that speak to the world we live in today. Worship is both reverent and relaxed, with space for reflection, joy, and participation.
Come as you are. We care more about your presence than what you are wearing.
Absolutely. Children are welcome in worship, and we offer opportunities for learning and service for all ages. We believe that worshiping and growing together strengthens our entire community. Although we do not currently offer dedicated programming for children and youth, everyone is always welcome at Peace.
Not at all. You are welcome to join us for worship, fellowship, and service at any time. Membership is a way to deepen your connection, but participation in the life of the church is open to everyone.
Then you are in good company. At Peace Church, faith is not about having all the answers. It is about exploring together, asking good questions, and finding meaning along the way.
We are involved in local and global mission efforts, supporting organizations that feed the hungry, care for the environment, and promote justice. Our goal is to live out God’s love in practical, tangible ways.
